Pool Operator & Facility Maintenance




(40-hours per week – days, evenings, and weekends)


Canadian Recreation Excellence Corporation is proud to have been selected by the City of Chilliwack to operate the City’s Recreation Centre’s (Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre, Cheam Leisure Centre, and Rotary Outdoor Pool). We are in search of honest, hard-working, enthusiastic staff who are “Serious about Fun!”

Under the direction and supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the Facility Maintenance worker will be responsible for ensuring that our patrons have a clean, safe, welcoming, and well-maintained facility. You will report directly to the
Maintenance Manager or Facility Manager and Recreation Excellence on all decisions that affect the day-to day operations of the facility and work within a company budget. As you are a representative of Recreation Excellence you will present yourself professionally and with the best interest of the Company as determined by the Company.

We are looking for an energetic and motivated person who possesses the following qualifications:

  • Pool Operator Level 1 & 2 (or able to complete within the first 6-months of employment)
  • Standard First Aid with CPR C/AED
  • Customer Service experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to follow directions and work with minimal supervision
  • Works well as a team player as well as independently.
  • Strong communication skills are required.
  • Stamina, Energy and Willingness to learn and provide a safe and enjoyable aquatic facility
  • Knowledge and use of:

The following qualifications would also be an asset:

  • Mechanically inclined
  • Handyman skills
  • Workplace Safety Training
  • Previous experience

Under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager, duties could include, but not limited to:

  • 40hrs per work week. All efforts should be made to not incur overtime however due to the nature of the work it is understandable that some days may require more hours than others.
  • A consistent work schedule at each facility with scheduled work weeks consisting of Thursday-Monday to ensure weekend coverage is ample.
  • Scheduled hours may vary and may include a start time of a minimum of ½ hour prior to the facility opening to the public or evenings when contractors or after facility hours work is required.
  • Performing water tests and balancing the pool chemistry, as needed
  • Completing backwashes of the pool and the cleaning of pool components
  • Minor mechanical work
  • Daily, weekly and monthly inspection checks and preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Minor pool maintenance or repairs
  • Pool Vacuuming
  • Janitorial duties
  • Repetitive lifting, pushing, pulling, or moving items that may weigh 50lbs or more
  • Excessive standing and walking are required
  • Perform all other related duties as required or tasked with

Onsite training will be made available to successful candidate.

Salary: $42,840 – 44,880 depending on experience and certifications. Employment includes extended benefits after 6-months, mileage and cell phone allowance, facility membership, along with additional training and education
