Pool Operator & Facility Maintenance

Canadian Recreation Excellence Corporation is proud to have been selected by the City of Chilliwack to operate the City’s Recreation Centre’s (Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre, Cheam Leisure Centre and Rotary Outdoor Pool). We are in search of honest, hard-working, enthusiastic staff who are “Serious about Fun!”

Under the direction and supervision of the Facility Operations Manager, the Pool Operator & Facility Maintenance worker will be responsible for ensuring that our patrons have a clean, safe, welcoming and well-maintained facility.

Pool Operator & Facility Maintenance

(1x Full Time Position – 40-hours per week – days, evenings and weekends)

We are looking for an energetic and motivated person who possess the following qualifications:

  • Pool Operator Level 1 & 2 (or able to complete within the first 3-months of employment)

  • Standard First Aid with CPR C/AED

  • WHMIS Training

  • Building Service Worker Certificate (or able to complete within the first 3-months of employment)

  • Customer Service experience

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills

  • Ability to follow directions and work with minimal supervision

  • Works well as a team player as well as independently

  • Stamina, Energy and Willingness to learn and provide a safe and enjoyable aquatic facility

    The following qualifications would also be an asset:

  • Mechanically inclined

  • Handyman skills, including minor carpentry

  • Workplace Safety Training

  • Previous experience

    Under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager, duties could include, but not limited to:

  • Performing water tests and balancing the pool chemistry, as needed

  • Completing backwashes of the pool and the cleaning of pool components

  • Minor mechanical work

  • Daily, weekly and monthly inspection checks and preventative maintenance on equipment

  • Minor pool maintenance or repairs

  • Pool Vacuuming

  • Janitorial duties

  • Repetitive lifting, pushing, pulling or moving items that may weigh 50lbs or more

  • Excessive standing and walking is required

  • Perform all other related duties as required or tasked with

    We are looking for candidates that want to take on the challenge of assisting Recreation Excellence to ensure that these facilities are cleaned and maintained to a high standard for our Community.

    Wage: $16 – $21 per hour, depending on experience and certifications. This Full-Time position also includes benefits and a Family Facility Membership along with additional training and education opportunities.

    The successful candidates will require a Criminal Record Check and Working with Vulnerable Persons search prior to commencing work. As well as, maintain a clean Criminal Record to remain on staff.
