FUN Leaders (up to 10 positions available)

Canadian Recreation Excellence Corporation is proud to have been selected by the City of Chilliwack to operate the City’s Recreation Centre’s (Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre, Cheam Leisure Centre and Rotary Outdoor Pool) beginning in October 2015. We are in search of honest, hard-working, enthusiastic staff who are “Serious about Fun!”


Under the direction and supervision of the Aquatic Program Manager and the Aquatic Leaders, the FUN Leaders will be responsible for one of the most important things that we offer in our facility…FUN! Your responsibilities could include, but are not limited to, greeting all guests, patrons and customers in a pleasant and friendly manner, supervising the slide, inflatable, minor cleaning responsibilities, helping out with swimming lessons or run any activities/games taking place in the pool. Recreation Excellence’s emphasis is on the provision of safe yet dynamic aquatic programs and services, and outstanding customer service provided in a clean and welcoming facility.


FUN Leaders (up to 10 positions available)

**Shifts will be scheduled Friday Nights, Saturday & Sunday’s. As well as, Pro D Days, Stats and Holidays at all Facilities

We are looking for energetic, enthusiastic and motivated Fun Leaders Instructors who possess the following qualifications:

  • Bronze Medallion & Bronze Cross
  • Standard First Aid with CPR C (Red Cross or Lifesaving)
  • Ability to follow directions and work with minimal supervision
  • Stamina, Energy and Willingness to learn and provide a safe and enjoyable aquatic facility

The following qualifications would also be an asset:

  • Red Cross Water Safety Instructor
  • NLS Pool Option

Your duties could include, but not limited to:

  • The ability to model appropriate behaviours as outlined in Organization’s 7 Unifying Principals – Unconditional Respect, Unconditional Trustworthiness, Team Work, Open, Forthright Communication, Perpetual Growth, Reverence for the Client & Company and Humour & Goodwill.
  • Enforcing slide rules and regulations for the safety of all users of the slide.
  • Monitoring the flow of riders down the slide for safe operation of the slide.
  • Providing effective and positive customer service to all patrons.
  • Leading age appropriate games on deck and in the water during public swims.
  • Advising the Aquatic Supervisor and/or Aquatic Leader of any emergencies on deck or in the water during public swims.
  • Preparing and leading birthday party events under the supervision of the Aquatic Supervisor and/or Aquatic Leader.
  • Performing routine maintenance and cleaning tasks as assigned.
  • Dress in the required Staff uniform while on duty.
    • Report incidents or concerns to your Aquatic Team Leader or Aquatic Supervisor in a timely manner.
    • Attend all mandatory Inservice and Competency Training sessions to maintain employment status.
    • May be asked to work or perform other related duties.

The preferred candidate will possess some knowledge of aquatic programs and activities, have the ability to communicate in a positive and effective manner to all ages, have the ability to enforce guidelines for the safe operation of the waterslide, have the ability to communicate to other staff in an emergency situation, and have the ability to lead creative and fun games for the public.

This position is a great way to learn the ways of a Lifeguard/Swim Instructor and what it means to work in an Aquatic Facility.

Wage is dependent on experience: $11.00-$12.50 per hour. Employment includes a Family Facility Membership along with additional training and education.

The successful candidates will require a Criminal Record Check and Working with Vulnerable Persons search prior to commencing work. As well as, maintain a clean Criminal Record to remain on staff.
