Fitness Attendant


Canadian Recreation Excellence Corporation is proud to have been selected by the City of Chilliwack to operate the City’s Recreation Centre’s (Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre, Cheam Leisure Centre and Rotary Outdoor Pool) beginning in October 2015. We are in search of honest, hard-working, enthusiastic staff who are “Serious about Fun!”


Under the direction and supervision of the Fitness & Youth Management team, the Fitness Attendant will be responsible for one of the most important things that we offer in our facility…SAFETY! Your responsibilities could include, but are not limited to, greeting all guests, patrons and customers in a pleasant and friendly manner, supervising the weight room, disinfecting all the equipment, helping Patrons with any questions, and assisting in weight training. Recreation Excellence’s emphasis is on the provision of safe yet dynamic Fitness & Youth programs, services, and outstanding customer service provided in a clean and welcoming facility.


Fitness Attendant (up to 4 positions available)

**Shifts could be scheduled Monday to Friday between 6:00am to 10:15pm & Saturday and Sunday’s 7:30am to 9:45pm.

We are looking for energetic, enthusiastic and motivated Fitness Attendants who possess the following qualifications:

  • Standard First Aid with CPR C/AED
  • Ability to follow directions and work with minimal supervision
  • Stamina, Energy and Willingness to learn and provide a safe and enjoyable Fitness Area.

The following qualifications would also be an asset:

  • Fitness Theory (This needs to be completed within 6 months of Hire Date)
  • Weight Training Instructor

Your duties could include, but not limited to:

  • The ability to model appropriate behaviours as outlined in Organization’s 7 Unifying Principals – Unconditional Respect, Unconditional Trustworthiness, Team Work, Open, Forthright Communication, Perpetual Growth, Reverence for the Client & Company and Humour & Goodwill.
  • Enforcing Weight Room rules and regulations for the safety of all users.
  • Monitoring the amount of patrons in the weight room.
  • Providing effective and positive customer service to all patrons.
  • Advising the Fitness supervisor of any emergencies in the weight room.
  • Retrieving a Lifeguard if any medical emergencies occur.
  • Performing routine maintenance and cleaning tasks as assigned.
  • Dress in the required Staff uniform while on duty.
  • Report incidents or concerns to your Fitness Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Attend all mandatory Inservice and Competency Training sessions to maintain employment status.
  • May be asked to work or perform other related duties.

The preferred candidate will possess some knowledge of fitness and fitness programs; have the ability to communicate in a positive and effective manner to all ages, have the ability to enforce guidelines for the safe operation of the weight room, have the ability to communicate to other staff in an emergency situation, and have the ability to have a good attitude towards all patrons.

This position is a great way to learn the ways of Fitness and what it means to work in a Fitness Facility.

The successful candidates will require a Criminal Record Check and Working with Vulnerable Persons search prior to commencing work. As well as, maintain a clean Criminal Record to remain on staff.
